Our Expedition Philosophy

My first mountain hunt was at seven, chasing sika stags. From that moment, hunting became more than a hobby—it became a lifelong pursuit. Those early experiences shaped my respect for animals, terrain, and the patience required to succeed in the mountains.

As a teenager, I spent countless days bush hunting in the Central North Island around Taupō, often stalking through thick canopy to get within 20 yards of my quarry. At 18, I moved to Christchurch to study Commerce (Agriculture) at Lincoln University, opening access to the Southern Alps. Here, my focus shifted to red stags in remote alpine country, and over time I expanded to bull tahr, chamois, and other mountain species — frequently covering 60–80 kilometers in a single weekend.

Today, I guide hunters across New Zealand and North America, leading true backcountry mountain expeditions. In New Zealand, I run alpine hunts for red stag, sika stag, bull tahr, chamois, fallow, goats, and pigs. In Northern British Columbia and the Yukon, I have guided multiple seasons for Stone sheep, Dall sheep, mountain goats, moose, and mountain caribou — including full backcountry, multi-day expeditions. Across these hunts, success rates exceed 90% across all species, reflecting careful preparation, fitness, and decision-making in real mountain conditions.

Every expedition I lead embodies the same principles that define a North American sheep hunt: effort, self-sufficiency, and earned success. This is not lodge hunting or a “drive-and-shoot” experience. Every stalk is earned, every animal is taken in wild country, and every hunt reflects respect for the mountains and the animals.

This is for serious hunters. If you want an easy or highly managed experience, there are better options elsewhere.
